Just about everyone involved in the making of the EP Up From Down has at some point been a part of the Boston music scene -from producer Michael Eisenstein (Letters To Cleo guitarist) to mix engineer Tom Polce (Bill Janovitz/Buffalo Tom) to keyboardist Peter Adams (Tracy Bonham, Juliana Hatfield) and drummer Fred Eltringham (who before joining the Wallflowers played in one of Boston's finest bands Gigolo Aunts). So we wanted to keep the spirit going: share a sampling of the Boston musical tree that extends to LA.
BAH-STON Unite! In an effort to create community and thwart the "I'm here for this band (and out by the next band) mentality," the four bands represented on this bill are connected not just by their Boston music scene pedigree: Letters To Cleo, Cave Dogs, Boy Wonder, Laurie Geltman, Drop NIneteens, Miranda Warning, The Pills, and more, but by their actual appreciation and support for each other (plus two marriages and several multi-band members which cross over into all four bands). Follow the bouncing band members as they jump from one band to another throughout the night.
The EP is available at http://cdbaby.com/cd/laynemusic, iTunes and many online digital stores.
Parking is available in the Pay Lot directly behind the venue.
Limited street parking is also available.
So please come to hang out and enjoy a true musical community of
talented musicians and join in the celebration. Get there early for
drinks in the bar (no, it's not open, but we'll be there drinking) and
seeing old friends.

This Summer: Laurie Geltman teaching kids to Rock the House!
Check out http://www.DayJams.com. A day camp for young rockers (ages 9-15) where Laurie will be an instructor in the LA and Pasadena, CA campuses. In one week, the kids join a band, write a song and perform it in front of hundreds of people the last day of camp! And they get a CD of the concert recorded by a professional sound team! Cool! Laurie has been working with kids musically for many years throughout her career and feels this is a great way of giving back what she's gained from touring, performing, leading a band and teaching music. There are locations ALL OVER the COUNTRY, so see if there's one near you: DAYJAMS!!
Happy Fourth Of July!

Here we go again...International Songwriting Competition 2006 Semi Finalists Announced
Last year (2005) the song "Milwaukee" made it to the Finals (top 10 or so) in the performance category of the Int'l Songwriting Competition. This was quite an honor as there were around 15,000 entrants. We also kicked butt in the People's choice as so many of you peeped in your two cents. thank you.
So now, the race is on again...and the Semi-Finalists have been announced for 2006 (semi-finalists and finalists will be posted on their website http://www.songwritingcompetition.com on February 1, 2007) and....drrummmmmm!
"Sorry For You" (songwriter: Laurie Geltman/category: Americana) has been selected as a semi-finalist in the 2006 International Songwriting Competition!!!
So, in case we don't get any further than this...YAY for making it this far to "Sorry For You"!
"Milwaukee" and "Sorry For You" can both be found on the debut EP by LAYNE (LG's latest project).

Wicked big NEWS...Introducing LAYNE and MySpaces.
The EP "Up From Down" has come back from Austin,TX where
it was mastered by the wonderful Nancy Matter of Moonlight Mastering.
It sounds great. The artwork is taking shape and though it's not
a good thing to guess these things, I'd say we'll have the baby in October.
But the REAL news is:
The EP is NOT coming out under the name Laurie Geltman.
The name of the project is called LAYNE. It will also be the name of
the band that supports this EP. Old fans will be able to find and purchase
the Layne EP at CDbaby.com/lauriegeltman which is where the previous
CD releases No Power Steering and Motion PIctures can also be found.
OTHER NEWS you can use:
I have begun two MySpace pages. While they are still evolving (songs should
be up in the next couple weeks), they are there for the joining:
http://www.myspace.com/lauriegeltman
AND
http://www.myspace.com/LAYNEmusicusa
Okay, that's enough earth shattering news for one night.
Long Live New Orleans,

Music Workshop for Kids in Maine with Laurie this Summer!
Laurie returns to Riley School's College for Kids on the beautiful coast of Rockport, Maine. The two week workshop takes place between June 26-July 6th., Monday through Thursdays 9am-3pm.
Children choose two in-depth workshops and work with professional artists and scientists.
To register or for more information: 207-596-6405 or www.rileyschool.org.
Financial Assistance and Scholarships Available!!
Laurie's Music Workshop:
This workshop will build on each camper's own musical interests and skills to experience the thrill of creating and performing. Form your own band, sing and write your own songs. Jam with other young musicians. Campers will experiment with and be exposed to many instruments to learn the basics of rhythm and good musicianship. Campers quickly evolve into more sensitive players, becoming participants in their own improvisational jams. Using their own instrument or experimenting with a new one, they will be encouraged to explore and discover their musical potential.
Projects and activities may include songwriting, playing as a band, independent work on specific instruments and songs, group singing, creative writing exercises, and interacting with other workshops by providing music for plays and films.

Longer story: In the "I'll Always Have Alaska" Dept.:
Once upon a time in 1999, I played in the remote town of Talkeetna, Alaska where I was interviewed in a tiny log cabin with a giant satellite dish on top and one press photo lovingly hanging on the wall inside (a B&W of NPR's Terry Gross). They've since expanded their reach with an active internet radio show called Whole Wheat Radio that has kindly continued to play my songs. Recently, they emailed to inform me that I will be the "Featured Artist Of The Day" on Sunday, April 23rd, 2006.
In their own words:
"Featuring artists is our way of focusing listener attention on a particular musician."
They'll play different songs from my CDs throughout the day, usually once every hour. They have a chat room, so you can pipe in about me or politics or your own Alaskan adventure. They'll also surf my website live on-air at random times during the day when they're talking on the microphones.
You should know that you'll probably have to listen over several hours in order to catch my tunes. It's Sunday, relax!

ISC Winners To Be Announced March 31, 2006
The International Songwriting Competition website
has posted that winners will be annouced March 31st.
Friday, March 17th, 2006 3:00 PM
No Word Yet From ISC...
Hey y'all,
Lots of inquiry lately, but still no word on the International Songwriting Competition. Thanks for caring to ask in this busy world.
The finalists are being listened to by a whole slew
of "VIP" types, so I guess they're waiting to hear back from all the
judges.
As for the People's Voice--a completely separate contest within the contest-- I think they announce that
the same time as the ISC.
Thanks so much to all of you who voted.
I'll keep ya posted. People on my email list will get word first.
You can sign up easily from the Home Page.
Check out http://www.songwritingcompetition.com for more info on the judges, prizes, winners, rules, etc.
Be well,
Laurie

In addition to the regular winners who will be selected by the ISC judging panel, ISC also offers the People's Voice - where you get to be the judge and pick your favorite song.
Listen to Milwaukee [update: Oct. 2006...sorry, but we took the link to Milwaukee off; it was an unmastered MP3 version and doesn't count anymore...cause the EP will be ready around NOV. 9th!!!!)
And click here to listen to all the finalists' songs and vote.
You can vote once a day.
That's all for now...
Thanks if you take the time to vote!
